ACV For Guinea Piggies!

Found this post when I wanted to know whether there's lik homeopathic for Guinea pigs. Just a note for myself. Although most Guinea pig owners are quite paranoid.. I do believe it's possible as dogs can too. Just probably a lower dosage.

Look At How Fast Aya Grow

This week, is Aya's third week with The Mini Herd. Aya has some possible fungal issue on her as I have found some bald spot nearby her vajayjay and on her side. The bald spot on her side seems quite bad as there red spots that seems to look like either she scratch too much or sensitive skin. While the bald spot nearby her vajayjay does have visible dry skin. Aya's quarantine time are now extended until she is fit to join with her sisters, Fuyu and Natsu. Aya will be on extra vitamins and her fungal affected area will be cleansed twice a day with povidone iodine water + that herbal cream I got from the petshop. We changed her blanky 2 days once and she's monitored now. This girl has been refusing to drink her water. Thank God she finishes her veggies everytime though. She is now at 200g growing ever so quickly. Gosh baby... That's kinda fast!

Aya is Having Possible Fungal Issue

So.. we found a bald patch near Aya's vajayjay and it looks like she has some dry skin peeling off in that area as well. I was watching a premier screening at the time when The Asshole texted me saying that, he found this bald patch on Aya. Honestly, I couldn't concentrate. I was nearly as panic. When I came back home, I went straight to Aya and check on her. I gave a light pressed on the area to see whether she wheeks at the pain or not but Aya just look at me innocently. So, I've decided to treat it as Fungal issue. I spray the area with the anti bacterial spray for pets and applied anti fungal herbal Gel on her. Get well soon my baby. You're suppose to be meeting your sisters already.

Natsu is Afraid of..

I posted Fuyu's bath the other day from last Saturday. This is Natsu's bath. She was so scared at first, she jump right up at me for comfort. She calmed down a little bit later, and that's how I got this video of her;

Yep, she still look very much afraid. I was hugging her before this. I was amazed when I kissed her forehead, she was okay. Normally, she would... run.. but I guess she was so afraid that she just freezes or.. she knows it's okay when I'm around? I don't know.. with Natsu, I'm a little bit confuse because she's always trying to run away. No matter, I still love her.. always be my baby.

Fuyu's Bath Time is Always Full of Cuteness

You will hear me cursing because while I was taking this video and bathing her at the same time.. the mop fell down and I had to do the matrix the catch it with one of my legs while keeping steady. Yes, I just multi tasked!

Surprisingly, Fuyu did not move and let me bath her or probably she knows she needed one. Awwww... she grew up so fast and grew up to be that cute baby I have expected her to be. Of course, this baby will be the biggest because she's my dominant or so called the alpha guinea pig of the herd. Had to bath her last Saturday because,  the girls starts scratching like nuts and I was going to put them on the spot on thingey just in case they have mites, ticks or lice.

My adorable Poop machine. I love you!

Day 2: Welcome to The Mini Herd Aya

Aya, is currently quarantined. It will take about a week until we can introduce her to her sisters. Since the hospital room is so near to Fuyu and Natsu's room, I saw Natsu kissed her just now. It seems like they will have a good relationship in future? I don't know. .  But I do hope so.

I have yet to see her drink her water but.. she has been eating so far. We had her on Oxbow Immune and Oxbow Fur & Coat half tablet each last night, she seems to be enjoying it. She even finished her Oxbow Orchard Grass snacks. Not bad for a Newby.

To feed them, I have to put my hands into their bowl. For Aya, it is very hard for her.. Aya by far, is the most stiffy guinea pig I have. She actually Wheek! out loud like I'm going to kill her when I was just putting food in.

Compare to Nera, nope.. Nera took only a day to realize I'm taking care of her.  She would just roam around while I'm cleaning the cage and putting food in her bowl. Within a week, she knows her mummy is pampering her. So, I guess we can't compare her to Nera.

Aya is more like Hunter before he got use to me although Hunter too took 2 weeks to finally smell my fingers and let me touch him. Hunter can be considered attached to us quite fast as well because I was treating his fungal. Aya came in healthy witrout any issue of lice or fungal.  We'll bring her to the vets 2 weeks later to get her check up and dewormed.

Hello! Fuyu Here...

So.. I found the new dome is full of pee and poop! I soak that thing into Detol for about an hour or so.. clean it and wiped it dry. I put a cosy towel inside just to hint them that it's not a toilet! Guess who I found inside sleeping?

I guess my movementmovements is so obvious... it woke her up and it became a selfie instead. Here's another picture..

New Dome

We bought Fuyu & Natsu aan additional dome because.. I think the dome is cute and I think Fuyu will like it (mummy likes to spoil them).. The Asshole thinks they need another one because Fuyu always chase Natsu out from the tree house. The igloo is too small for them already and the best thing about the new dome is that, it's ceramic. Which means it will not be hot inside. I actually asked Pets Wonderland if they have a new one, because I was thinking of buying two.. that's just too bad they only have one.

So.. who claimed the new dome first?

And then...

Guinea Pig: Companionship (Why?)

Since my experience with Karma, one of my biggest mistakes was, not able to give her the perfect companion in time. A guinea pig became less more stressful when they are in the company of their kind and they will be more healthier too. Not only that, your days will be brighter when you come home to happy guinea pigs everyday. That is why it is advisable to adopt two instead of one.

Guinea pigs are highly social animals. The express themselves through each other, different from when they are with their humans. Here are the benefits;

Less Stress
As a new guinea pig gets very stressful if it is alone but in the company of others, be it just by listening or smelling another guinea pig is around, it improves the guinea pig's stress level (yes, they tend to get stressed in a new environment because they are not use to it yet). This is proven.. from my very own experience with Natsu, Hunter and now Nera (pronounce as Nee-ra).

A Kind of an Exercise for Them
Guinea pigs likes to run and play among themselves. This is a kind of an exercise for them. The more they run, the healthier they are. At least, they won't become fat.

They Can Influence Each Other
When a guinea pig is alone.. they are quite jumpy, stiffy and stressed out. It could take you ages to make them get use to you, or introducing them to new food or environment. This will not happen if your baby has got a friend with them. Take a look at Fuyu and Natsu. Natsu don't actually eat oats before this but it's Fuyu's favourite and this has influence Natsu to join in the fun munching together.

Mentally Stimulates Their Behavior
Seriously, they're more happier and comfortable when they have friends also speed up the time for them to get use to the environment you provide them.

Weighing Your Cavies

Weighing your Guinea Pigs are very important. You can keep track of their health by just knowing what is their weight. It is crucial to find out especially when they loses their weight. Losing weight means sick! That why it's important to monitor their weight.

So far, the girls are gaining.. a very comforting news everytime I check.

Feeding Critical Care to Aiko

Because, Aiko is eating less and she preferably pallets than hay. The other day, the doctor said Aiko is gassy and it's bad if she continues to not eat her hay. She needneeds the fiber. Critical Care was suggested then. So, today.. I noticed Aiko is not eating much of her pallets and hay. Then I decided to feed her Critical Care.

But girl.. after awhile, she refuses it from me. Instead, she ran to my shoulder for comfort. Grrrrr! SPOIL BRAT! I can't say I don't like it, because I know Aiko is now quite fond of me and she's cute whenever she does that..

Mummy.. stop please...

*climbs hight while complaining. Mummy just selfie herherself away.

And then... The Asshole came back. He became daddy the saviour!!!

Apparently, she likes to be fed by her dad more. Mummy is just a place for comfort.

My Adorable Little Poop Machine

We decided to give them a bigger space to play. This is when floor play time idea came. Fuyu & Natsu were acting very funny. Probably because this time we didn't give them limit to where they can run to and apparently, they're more attached to The Asshole. They actually keep on going back to him for comfort like a lost child.

This video, was taken during The Asshole went to the kitchen to make some juice. The girls found his Futsal bag and this is when I caught Fuyu on video. I think she's trying to sneak into so that she can follow him to Futsal.

Seriously, isn't she adorable?

Fuyu & Natsu's Floor Time

But instead, they just want to be around you. The kids won't run around. They stick to you + pee and poop.

And manage to argue to be on you..

Guinea pigs cage must be big enaugh. If it's not, they needed some play time on that huge living room floor of yours.

One guinea pig: 7.5 square feet cage (minimum), but more is better; generally 30" x 36" is a good size.
Two guinea pigs: 7.5 square feet (minimum), but 10.5 square feet is preferred; generally 30" x 50" is a good size.
Three guinea pigs: 10.5 square feet (minimum), but 13 square feet is preferred; generally 30" x 62" is a good size.
Four guinea pigs: 13 square feet (minimum), but more is better; generally 30" x 76" is a good size.

Why is it a Dome is so Important When You Have a Guinea Pig?

Mum got me a new UFO dome!! I will never come out of this place anymore.. Not gonna eat or drink too! I'll just stay in here and hang out because it's safe..

One of the most important thing, or the basic needs that you need to get when deciding to have a guinea pig, is getting them a fancy dome. You can buy, you can DIY.. as long as you have them, your GP will be a happy GP.

Fuyu: God, my ass is too big to fit in..
A dome, is a place for them to hide when they're feeling unsafe. GPs  are prey in the wild. They don't have the means to fight for their lives but.. they can run and hide like a master. The only way for them to survive from extinction is to multiply. So, it's normal if your GP tends to hide. It's juz because they feel unsafe. You need to be gentle to them until they can really trust you. A dome can also help your GP so that it doesn't get stressed out much with you being so excited about having a GP.

I try to get them a hay dome last time, so that they can munch on, but the gurus caught fleas/ lice. Tight now, I'm thinking of changing them to woods or plastics. Very much prefer wood actually.
