Guinea Pig: Companionship (Why?)

Since my experience with Karma, one of my biggest mistakes was, not able to give her the perfect companion in time. A guinea pig became less more stressful when they are in the company of their kind and they will be more healthier too. Not only that, your days will be brighter when you come home to happy guinea pigs everyday. That is why it is advisable to adopt two instead of one.

Guinea pigs are highly social animals. The express themselves through each other, different from when they are with their humans. Here are the benefits;

Less Stress
As a new guinea pig gets very stressful if it is alone but in the company of others, be it just by listening or smelling another guinea pig is around, it improves the guinea pig's stress level (yes, they tend to get stressed in a new environment because they are not use to it yet). This is proven.. from my very own experience with Natsu, Hunter and now Nera (pronounce as Nee-ra).

A Kind of an Exercise for Them
Guinea pigs likes to run and play among themselves. This is a kind of an exercise for them. The more they run, the healthier they are. At least, they won't become fat.

They Can Influence Each Other
When a guinea pig is alone.. they are quite jumpy, stiffy and stressed out. It could take you ages to make them get use to you, or introducing them to new food or environment. This will not happen if your baby has got a friend with them. Take a look at Fuyu and Natsu. Natsu don't actually eat oats before this but it's Fuyu's favourite and this has influence Natsu to join in the fun munching together.

Mentally Stimulates Their Behavior
Seriously, they're more happier and comfortable when they have friends also speed up the time for them to get use to the environment you provide them.

At 1:26

You just have to deal with their arguments for awhile and while you're at that, you might be able to catch a rare sight. YES!! Aiko yawn!! Guinea Pigs rarely sleep. They just rest. It's their nature because int he wild, they're prey. They need to stay alert so that they can live! Since they don't sleep, it is a rare sight to see them yawn. I saw her 3 times today and the third time, I manage to catch her on video! I AM AWESOME & MY KIDS ARE FURRY CUTE! Aiko yawning is so cute I almost pull my hair bald! LOL!

Weighing Your Cavies

Weighing your Guinea Pigs are very important. You can keep track of their health by just knowing what is their weight. It is crucial to find out especially when they loses their weight. Losing weight means sick! That why it's important to monitor their weight.

So far, the girls are gaining.. a very comforting news everytime I check.

Fuyu & Natsu's Floor Time

But instead, they just want to be around you. The kids won't run around. They stick to you + pee and poop.

And manage to argue to be on you..

Guinea pigs cage must be big enaugh. If it's not, they needed some play time on that huge living room floor of yours.

One guinea pig: 7.5 square feet cage (minimum), but more is better; generally 30" x 36" is a good size.
Two guinea pigs: 7.5 square feet (minimum), but 10.5 square feet is preferred; generally 30" x 50" is a good size.
Three guinea pigs: 10.5 square feet (minimum), but 13 square feet is preferred; generally 30" x 62" is a good size.
Four guinea pigs: 13 square feet (minimum), but more is better; generally 30" x 76" is a good size.

When Fuyu's Bottle is Not at The Usual Spot

So apparently, it's very true that their eye sight is not that good. Fuyu can't find her bottle. Her bottle is juz next to Natsu's bottle, the small one.
